Takeshi was 20 on Thursday 23rd and this party was supposed be purely for that reason, but the party that was supposed to have taken place the weekend before, namely "Lukes Bulgogi Party", was cancelled due to technical difficulties. For this reason, the party today became a joint affair, and so there was lots of food (thanks to the Bulgogi Beef) and plenty of alcohol (nothing new for this house)
Bulgogi -
Bulgogi, is lots of meat joints (usually beef, but
on this occasion Pork) that are cut finely into
strips, then marinated in all sorts of weird an wonderful things
such as Soy Sauce (five bottles of the stuff this time I think), whiskey (about
three quarters of a bottle), garlic, ginger, and sesame oil. It is then sloshed
about by Luke (thank god my fingers were not in that mix! talk about acerbic).
The final stages involve taking the prepared meat (I think there were four tureens
worth of the stuff) out to whoever happens to be looking after the BBQ, and
placing the strips on to cook through.
It is best eaten very hot, so you will find many die-hards standing around the
BBQ itself, grabbing the cooked strips from the serving plate (and sometimes the
cooking tongs themselves!!). If you plan to eat this stuff while its hot, you do
need abestos covered fingers *g*

the students check their email while they are here, let alone the amusing
fun we have with IRC when (slightly) drunk! I especially like this one, as
I got Jools off guard :O)
