Ok, what is there to say about cars?

• They get you from <a> to <b>, usually via the way of <c>, although if you wanted to add in <d> along the route then that also poses no problem.
• You can do the shopping, and get it home without having to brake your back with several big carrier bags.
• You can work further from your home, than if you had to walk.

All these and more sum up what a car offers..... but we kind of scoff at such petty things around here *g*

Welcome to OUR ideas of what a car should be...

• When driven properly, your back should be straightened out.
  • If not, add more right foot!
• When driven through town, ninety percent of heads should be turned.
  • If not, get a new car!
• When driven at the speed limit, handling should be better than when pootling along.
  • If not, get it tuned, or buy a new car!
• When sitting in a tailback, drivers going the other way, should pause to admire your machinery.
  • If not, get a louder car!
• When someone asks you what you drive, you should hold your head high, shoulders back and pronounce the name clearly.
  • If not, then stop driving a Ford Fiesta!

Anyway, the list could go on and on, but we don't want to bore you, so we will just get on with pronouncing what we think of as being the cars we rate at this moment in time, as well as showing you a little of what Grahame currently drives, the '98 Hyundai F2 Coupe.

 

Ok, so where to start? obviously we could just jump in and tell you immediately what we consider to be the finest car of the hour, but that is something we should be leading up to, not just plunging in with... or is it?

There are many vehicles in today's world which can be classed as "desirable" but very few of them are both desirable AND affordable... The two cars following are both of these, as well as being everything in the above MUST HAVE list.

 

The Lotus Elise

 

Ok, enough drooling.... or nearly *g*

 

It has been many years since Lotus were at the height of things motoring... finally they have achieved the spotlight once more with the 340R, but also with its little sister... the Elise, which is featured below. Lotus deserve much more praise than we could ever give them, but for a company which may be owned by an American giant, they are still producing English cars from an English factory and deserve the country to get behind them, as we seem to be losing all the greats. The demise of companies like Rover and such, all British mainstays and at one time the leaders in their particular niche's of the car market, is a shame for England, the likes of which the guy who is considered as responsible for the creation of the World Wide Web, also happens to be English, but like so many good things this country has thrown away, ended up in America creating the World Wide Web Consortium, also known as the W3C. Ok, the most looked at vehicle in this house just recently has been the Lotus Elise 340R! and why you may ask.... if you need to ask, you cannot have seen this machine... yet!
Remember the list above about what a car should be? well, the 340R is all that and more, although some may not like its styling (those people are probably still highly into Art-Deco! either that or they drive a taxi)
The machine first appeared in the 1998 Birmingham Motor Show, when it was paraded for the first time as a concept car.

Well, as you may know, or have guessed... it aint a concept no more Toto!
The 340R is a full blown production bit of joy! The images below give some indication of the car that is the top of Grahame's wish list just now.
